Anantara is an underrated luxury hotel brand with the majority of its properties in Asia and the Middle East.
This footprint is starting to grow in Europe with the Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel being its eighth European destination.
The hotel occupies a spectacular position built into a cliffside on the Amalfi Coast.
The property is a former 13th-century Capuchin convent.
While much remains, including the original cloisters and chapel, the property has been renovated with luxury in mind.
Rooms and suites are located in the original monks’ quarters, dining takes place along the ‘Passeggiata dei Monaci’ with spectacular views of the coast, and tranquil days are spent floating in the pool perched over the horizon.
The hotel contains 52 rooms and suites, a cliffside restaurant and bar, a spa, a pool and a panoramic gym.
A baroque chapel is available for weddings.
The hotel is only 15 minutes walk to the centre of Amalfi.
