Marriott won the race for the largest number of hotels after they merged with Starwood to create this global juggernaut.

This has resulted in a large number of brands and a massive footprint of luxury properties.

The reach of Marriott is impressive, covering 131 countries and a wide variety of brands from budget to ultra-luxury.

Their luxury portfolio contains St Regis, Ritz-Carlton, W Hotels, The Luxury Collection, EDITION and JW Marriott.

Their “Premium” portfolio, which sits underneath their “Luxury” portfolio, still contains some very respectable brands including Westin, Autograph Collection and Le Meridien.

These hotels can provide an authentic luxury experience, particularly in Asia.

It is hard to beat Marriott for the sheer size of its global footprint.

Wherever you go in the world, you should be able to find a Marriott option.

In significant cities such as New York and Paris, you will find a wide array of luxury hotels which means you can choose the brand that best suits your needs.

The Bonvoy loyalty program is also beneficial for regular travellers.

Whilst consistency can be an issue and Marriott, inexplicable, can have different rules within different brands, Bonvoy members can count on useful perks such as suite upgrades and late check-out.
