Condor is a German leisure airline that is upping its luxury experience in a way that should worry full-service competitors.
The airline is deploying new Airbus A330-900neo aircraft and their first Frankfurt – New York flight landed earlier this week.
The new planes feature a new business class featuring the same Skylounge Core seats that recently debuted on highly regarded Taiwanese start-up Starlux.
Condor has a total of 18 of the new jets on order and plans to operate 16 routes from Germany to North America this year.
By the end of 2024, Condor will have retired its old business class featured on its A330-200s and Boeing 767-300ERs and solely operate the A330-900neo as their sole long-haul aircraft.
Eventually, Condor’s A330-900neo will become the carrier’s sole long-haul aircraft by the end of 2024, meaning the end of the line for its old business-class product on the A330-200s and Boeing 767-300ERs.
Even though Condor is a leisure airline, this new business class is arguably the best trans-Atlantic product from Germany to the US and it still undercuts its competitors for price.
Round-trip fares on the New York to Frankfurt route in the all-new business class start from as low as $2,131.
For an additional $212, 4 passengers on every A330-900-operated flight will have the opportunity to upgrade to the exclusive Prime Seats at the front of the plane that feature more space and extra amenities.
Given the incredibly slow pace of Lufthansa’s new business-class roll out and how off the pace their current business class is – Condor’s new product presents welcome competition when flying long haul from Germany.
