India is becoming an increasingly important market for the Australian flag carrier.
Qantas has expanded its codeshare arrangements with Indian airline Indigo giving Qantas Frequent Flyers access to more codeshare flights to more destinations.
Qantas has restarted flights to Delhi from Melbourne and Sydney to Bengaluru, but it only operates each route four times a week per week.
Qantas started its co-operation with IndiGo to some of India’s major cities, such as Mumbai and Chennai, in August last year.
In the second phase of the agreement Qantas customers will now be able to fly to eight more cities bringing the number of connections to Indian destinations from Delhi and Bengaluru to 21.
The new codeshare destinations are:
- Guwahati
- Indore
- Chandigarh
- Mangalore
- Jaipur
- Nagpur
- Thiruvananthapuram
- Visakhapatnam
The new destinations join those already covered under the agreement:
- Ahmedabad
- Amritsar
- Bengaluru
- Chennai
- Delhi
- Goa
- Mumbai
- Kochi
- Kolkata
- Hyderabad
- Lucknow
- Patna
- Pune
Qantas Frequent Flyer Points can be earned and redeemed on IndiGo flights with a QF code and Qantas Frequent Flyer benefits for associated members include early check-in and early baggage claim.
Qantas customers travelling on IndiGo can enjoy free food and drinks with the same baggage as Australian flights.
IndiGo is the largest domestic airline in India and amongst the fastest growing low-cost carriers in the world.
The airline operates 1500 daily flights ith its fleet of 275+ aircraft to 73 domestic and 24 international destinations.
